You don’t have to be a huge fan of Tupac to know the controversy surrounding his death and the myth that he never actually died in the first place.
Well the controversy surrounding Tupac’s death continues nearly twenty years after the late rapper’s supposed death and open casting call for an upcoming Tupac biopic.
A recent article in The Mirror recounts the story of a retired cop named David Myers who claims he was paid $1.5 million to help Tupac Shakur fake his own death.
“The world needs to know what I did. I’m ashamed that I let a price be put on my word and I cannot die without letting the world know,” Myers said, adding that Suge Knight and 30 other people were all involved in the cover up.
BET reports that the former police officer, Myers was paid a cool $50,000 to take a body double to the morgue. But then what happened to the body double?
Obviously, this is not the first time someone has claimed Tupac’s death was faked it will probably won’t be the last. Both The Mirror and BET point out that some websites claim Meyers’ used a fake photo, strongly suggesting that the retired police officer is just lying for attention.
This news comes as an open casting call for the new Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me, took place on Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia. The new Tupac biopic will be directed by Benny Boom and will film in Atlanta for the next several months. It will be interesting to see if Boom will add the mystery of Tupac’s death to the movie or, if he will put the rumors to an end.
