Marvel is reportedly adding LGBTQ characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is changing, but for many, it will be changing for the better. While there are not many LGBTQ+ characters in the franchise, Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige says that change is coming.
Talking to The Playlist, Feige said that LGBTQ+ people would soon get to see themselves on the big screen as they’ll be introducing or reintroducing characters who are part of the LGBTQ+ community:
The Playlist: When are we getting a Gay, Bi, LGBTQ, out character in the MCU? Is it even in the works?
Kevin Feige: Yes.
The Playlist: That’s the answer?
Kevin Feige: Yeah, that’s the answer.
The Playlist: It’s not someone we’ve seen yet, I’m guessing?
Kevin Feige: Both.
The Playlist: Both?
Kevin Feige: Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen.
Fans have long waited to see an increase of diversity and following the success of Black Panther, diversity also leads to financial success.
Also, in 2016, #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend went viral on Twitter. Fans demanded Captain America have a boyfriend in the next Marvel movie. In fact, fans have taken to Twitter to ask Disney and Marvel to let Captain America come out of the closet.
We will have to wait and see what will happen next.
