How to audition for a speaking role on ‘The Batman’
Robert Pattinson is set to star as Batman. Matt Reeves took over the directing job after Ben Affleck stepped away from the movie. Affleck was set to play Batman but he walked away from the movie franchise for good. Reeves described the movie as “very personal” and a “defining” story about the Dark Knight. Reeves wrote the screenplay and is producing with Dylan Clark with Michael E. Uslan executive producing.
After the Coronavirus pandemic shutdown of all filming productions across the UK, movies such as The Batman are allowed to continue filming.
The British Film Commission and the British Film Institute came together to create a list of guidelines that the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive, meaning the United Kingdom film and TV production can start filming.
These new guidelines allow for productions to start filming if each episode costs more than £1m GBP (approx. $1.24m USD). Self-employed freelance film and TV workers will also be allowed to return back to work after the new guidelines.
About ‘The Batman’:
Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in the upcoming ‘The Batman’ movie starring Robert Pattinson. In a tweet, Halle Berry, 53, congratulated Kravitz, 30, on landing the role, calling her “eternally graceful” and “extremely bad-ss”.
The tweet needed with “keep shining Queen & welcome to the family!”
‘Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon. Actor Paul Dano will play the Riddler. Dano’s casting comes after Jonah Hill turned down an offer to join the cast. Given how long negotiations went on with Jonah Hill, Variety reports Warner Bros. had an offer ready to go out to Dano once Hill passed on the role
Pre-production for the movie is expected to start this summer. No official start date has been set.
Reeves, who is known for his work on the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequel, took over the movie after Ben Affleck departed from the film franchise.
But, how does someone land a role in ‘The Batman’?
According to IMDB, the movie’s casting is done by Cindy Tolan. Cindy Tolan is known for her work on Straight Outta Compton (2015), If Beale Street Could Talk (2018) and The Place Beyond the Pines (2012).
In a 2017 interview with Cindy Tolan, the casting director said she explained how she finds new talent. She explains, “With TV having exploded, everybody’s doing everything now,” she says. “If you’re good, it doesn’t matter what the project is; we want you.” And Tolan maximizes her nights out at the theatre to find new talent. “I circle every single name of every actor that I thought was exquisitely talented in the play, and I make sure that I bring them in for the next thing for which they are appropriate, no matter what it is that I am casting: film, TV, or theatre,” she says. “My hope is that all of the actors in Great Comet find their way onto TV and film. Why shouldn’t they? They’re amazing. Theatre has a wealth of talent. Why not embrace that?”

Director Matt Reeves reveals Robert Pattinson’s Camera Test
The Batman director Matt Reeves reveals Robert Pattinson’s batsuit for the upcoming feature film.
Showing off the latest look of the Dark Knight via a camera test, we get a better look at the new Batman played by Robert Pattinson. Focusing on the actor’s strong facial features, the costume looks to showcase a minimal design that sits separate from the neck guard and the cape. A close look at the chest region of the hit reveals a new pared-back bat symbol, which looks to reference to DC Comics’ Rebirth Batman and highlights the intimidating plated combat armor.
Moreover, Reeves revealed the score accompanying the camera test is completed by Academy Award winner Michael Giacchnio.

The first official trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman debuted over the weekend at DC FanDome. The two-minute trailer features Nirvana’s “Something in the Way” song in the background of the Robert Pattinson starring movie. The movie trailer shows clips of Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as The Riddler. The movie trailer did not show Colin Farrell as The Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The Batman director Matt Reeves attended DC FanDome and explained that while it’s not an origin movie, viewers will see Batman “in the middle of this criminological experiment and watch him make mistakes.” He continued, “He’s not having any of the effect that he want to have, that’s when the murders begin to happen.”
“This epic history of corruption in Gotham: Where did (his) family sit in that?,” Reeves added. “At the end, it’s very personal for him.”

The Batman TV Series
This news comes after, HBO Max announced they are working on a Batman spin-off series.
Director Matt Reeves signed on to direct the project. Reeves is also working on the upcoming Robert Pattinson ‘The Batman’ movies.
The upcoming series will be a police TV series that is set in the same world Reeves is developing in the upcoming Pattinson movies. Terrence Winter will write the show’s script and it will focus around Gotham City Police Department’s attempt to keep the city safe. According to the press release, the series will focus on “the motion picture’s examination […] of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms.”
