Is Georgia’s film industry boosting Atlanta’s population?
Georgia’s film industry is booming and with Florida, Louisiana and North Carolina cutting their film tax credits, many filmmakers, crew workers, and aspiring actors are moving to Atlanta in order to join Georgia’s growing film economy. This may be the reason why Forbes recently ranked Atlanta as the third fastest growing city in America.
According to Forbes, Atlanta (including Sandy Springs and Roswell neighborhoods) have increased by nearly 100,000 people from 2014 to 2015. In fact, the population of Atlanta is close to 6 million people. In comparison, New York City’s population is 8 million and if Georgia’s film industry continues to grow, I would not be surprised to see Atlanta topple that number. Other fast growing cities include Dallas and Houston, Texas.
