Men in Black / 23 Jump Street crossover movie is coming soon.
When it was forced announced via the Sony Hack, people were pretty shocked. So this next piece of news should not come as a surprise. According to Variety, Sony is moving forward on a 23 Jump Street / Men in Black crossover movie.
According to sources, the director of The Muppets, James Bobin, is in talks to direct the action comedy. And filming is expected to start as early as June 2016.
Bobin will have some pretty large shoes to fill as he will be replacing Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two movies but are unable to work on the crossover movie because of their commitment with Disney to make the Han Solo movie.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will return to reprise their roles as Jenko and Schmidt. The two actors will also be producing the project. But, what about Will Smith? According to Variety, Smith has made it clear that he will not be reprising his role that he made famous as the studio is looking to use this movie to relaunch the franchise to a younger audience.
It’s important to point out that Channing Tatum revealed he’s not excited about this new movie. He previously told reporters that it’s a “sham.” “I feel like it’s all redundant. The big running joke of the second movie is this is just going to be bigger and (crappier) than the first time.”
He added: “College was the obvious next step for us. We had to go there. I don’t know what the next step is after college. Do we go and take down Enron? Or the government in D.C.? I feel like it’s all redundant. The big running joke of the second movie is this is just going to be bigger and (crappier) than the first time. I don’t know if that joke works three times so we’ll see.” (Via USA Today)
We will have to wait and see how well this movie does, especially when the cast already hates the movie franchise.
