‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ spinoff is in early development.
Are you ready for even more Marvel? Marvel Entertainment is developing a spinoff series for ABC’s ‘Agents of SHIELD.’
From Variety:
The project is in the very early stages of development and does not have a proposed premiere date yet, nor plans for specific characters to lead the potential show, Variety has learned. “SHIELD’s” exec producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski are developing the series.
First reported by Entertainment Weekly, the new show would not be introduced as a planted spinoff during “Agents of SHIELD,” but upcoming storylines in the current series will be utilized to set up the spinoff, if it ends up being greenlit, so the theme should be clear by the end of the “Agents” season.
‘Agents of SHIELD’ is currently in its second season, has not yet been renewed by ABC. Marvel looks like it is expanding their universe beyond movies and into TV shows. This new Agents of SHIELD spinoff will be the third Marvel TV series.
As for other superhero spinoffs, DC Comics is reportedly developing an ‘Arrow’ and ‘Flash’ spinoff.
