Prime Video’s “Young Sherlock” Ropes in Refugee Star

“Hero Fiennes Tiffin Sweeps into the Role of Young Sherlock”

The enthralling world of Sherlock Holmes is all set to face a fresh cinematic narrative with the announcement of a new Prime Video series. In a delightful turn of the casting wheel, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, known for his role in the “After” film series, has now signed on to play the young investigator in the thrilling “Young Sherlock” series.

A Fresh Take on Holmes’ Adventures

Rather than being a reboot of the 1985 film “Young Sherlock Holmes”, this series is an adaptation of Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock novels, a popular series initiated in 2010. The novels offered a fresh exploration of Sherlock’s early years, riding on the success of similar narratives in the Young James Bond novels penned by Charlie Higson.

Director Guy Ritchie’s Return to Baker Street

Ritchie, who previously directed the 2009 film “Sherlock Holmes” and the 2011 sequel, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” both starring Robert Downey Jr., is once again stepping into the world of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famed gumshoe. The director is set to not only direct but also executive produce all eight episodes of the first season of “Young Sherlock”.

Untold Stories from Sherlock’s Youth

In an official statement, Ritchie stated, “In Young Sherlock, we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before. We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love.”

At the age of 19, the series presents a disgraced, raw, unfiltered, Sherlock embroiled in a murder mystery at Oxford University. The series promises to dive deep into his inaugural case revealing his inability to adhere to discipline yet/unearthing a global conspiracy that alters his life forever.

Executive Team behind the Series

A slew of experienced production talents support the series alongside Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill who serves as both writer and executive producer. Executive producers for the series include Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson, and Marc Resteghini, with Harriet Creelman as co-executive producer.

Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television, Vernon Sanders, expressed his excitement stating, “This exciting, new chapter about one of the world’s best-known literary characters, will delight our global customers with its captivating storytelling.” He further added the eagerness to explore “how young Sherlock found his way to a life of truth-seeking.”

As fans, we eagerly await the fresh portrayal of the world’s favourite detective, Sherlock Holmes and his early years of mystery-solving – but we’d like to hear your thoughts.
