Georgia’s film industry leaders met on Tuesday for the annual Film Day at the capital.
At the significant event were several critical political leaders including Governor Brian Kemp, Speaker Ralston and the Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson.
“We are the number one filming location of the world,” Lee Thomas, deputy commissioner of the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office said.
Thomas added, “The main focus of Film Day is to thank the legislators and the governor for supporting this industry and the impact that it has not only in Atlanta but in rural areas and small businesses.”
Shaunya Chavis-Rucker with Fulton County Films echoed the sentiment by saying, “Hollywood loves Fulton County and our affordable rates. Georgia – the state is leading the way with those tax credits. But we are right there with them about being able to film on our property for a very affordable fee,” Rucker said.
The Georgia Department of Economic Development partnered with Fulton CountyProductions to share an animated short film explaining the explosive growth of Georgia’s film industry. The animated short features Amber Nash who is an American actress and Georgia native who got her start in a local acting school in Atlanta. Nash explains how Georgia is built for the film industry with workforce development, studio development, and growing tourism industry.
Georgia is the home of several major motion pictures including Marvel’s “Black Panther,” several “Avengers” movies, and multiple hit TV series.
