Casting directors cast ‘Terminator’ Reboot Sarah Connors
The role of Sarah Connors in the new “Terminator” reboot, “Terminator: Genesis: has cast ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke for the lead role of Sarah Connors.
All hail and bow down to Daenerys Targaryen. While Brie Larson and “Wolf Of Wall Street” sexpot Margot Robbie were among the actresses vying for the coveted role of Sarah Connors in the new “Terminator” reboot, “Terminator: Genesis,” it is “Game Of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke who has officially anded the gig. To be directed by Alan Taylor (not so coincidentally a “Game Of Thrones” helmer and the filmmaker behind “Thor: The Dark World“), “Terminator: Genesis” is quickly taking shape and that’s a given considering its July 1st, 2015 release date (right around the corner in tentpole years). “Zero Dark Thirty” star, Jason Clarke (no relation), up for a lot of roles these days, is still in negotiations to play her son John Connor in a storyline which evidently involves a trip into the future (makes sense, given the difference between Emilia and Jason’s age) (IndieWire).
The iconic Sarah Connors was made iconic by Linda Hamilton in the James Cameron iterations of the series. But it seems that all the talk that Arnold Schwarzenegger was to be part of this series didn’t pan out, but who knows, it could still happen.
Produced by David Ellison’s Skydance, Megan Ellison’s Annapurna, and Paramount, the ‘Terminator’ reboot is getting rather ambitious; “X-Men: First Class” writers Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller were recently tapped to write a new “Terminator” TV series that will criss-cross with the new movie.
