Getting the News Straight

Brace yourselves, fans! The much-anticipated Star Wars prequel, Dawn of the Jedi from James Mangold, has just shared an exciting update. Mangold recently gave fans a clue on when the movie could possibly hit the theaters, and it’s creating a buzz in the Star Wars Universe!

So What’s the Big News?

In a recent chat with Empire Magazine, while promoting his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, Mangold spilled some beans about Dawn of the Jedi’s production timeline. Once he wraps up work on his current project, he’ll be diving straight into Dawn of the Jedi. If things go well, production could start as early as next year, he hinted.

Keeping With Tradition

Like every Star Wars masterpiece, Dawn of the Jedi is also a suspenseful puzzle. This movie plans to take fans back in time to the birth of the Jedi Order, that’s 25,000 years before the original trilogy, way back in the Star Wars timeline.

The Upcoming Line of Star Wars Saga

Mangold’s standalone movie isn’t the only shining star in the Star Wars galaxy. There are a few more projects in the pipeline that were announced by Disney and LucasFilm. Renowned creatives Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who’ve added their magic to the Star Wars saga, have standalone projects too. Even the fan favorites like Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) are set to have their individual movies. Fresh creative minds like Taika Waititi of Thor: Ragnarök and Patty Jenkins of Wonder Woman have also joined the crew.

Current Status of Star Wars Projects

At the moment, three projects have been confirmed to be in development. These include Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu, a movie sequel to the much-loved series The Mandalorian; Dawn of the Jedi by James Mangold and Rey-focused Star Wars: New Jedi Order by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

While these films are in the making, don’t forget about the Star Wars universe expanding on the small screen too! The next series called Skeleton Crew, featuring Jude Law, Nick Frost, Kyriana Kratter, Jaleel White, and Kerry Condon, is all set to light up Disney+ from December 3, 2024.

Eagerly Waiting

Though Mangold has shared these exciting updates, we still haven’t got an official release date for Dawn of the Jedi. However, fans are crossing their fingers in hopes of catching the film in theaters by late 2026 or, more realistically, by 2027.

Thus, while we patiently wait for these exciting Star Wars experiences to come to life, let’s gear up for some top-notch entertainment headed our way—a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
