Lee Daniels is now producing a ‘Empire’ Spin-off centering around Atlanta’s music industry.
Lee Daniels has just landed another major deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television. Several months ago Fox signed a deal with Daniels to allow him to develop, direct and supervise several new shows for the studio under his Entertainment company, while still working as an executive producer of “Empire”. His new series, “Star” centers around the Atlanta music scene which was announced earlier today.
The first project to be developed under the new agreement has been announced. Fox revealed today that it has ordered a pilot from Mr Daniels titled “Star,” which will be set in Atlanta, and will follow 3 young women who are working to make names for themselves in the music business.
The proposed one-hour pilot will be written, directed and executive produced by Daniels, although details on story and characters are scant at the moment, except for Fox sharing that the pilot will “showcase the allure and heartache of the cutthroat music scene, while also exploring cultural themes from a new perspective.”
Casting for the upcoming TV pilot will begin shortly, so we will soon learn more about the characters living in this Atlanta hip-hop world.
