Beats Pill XL pose a fire safety risk and Apple launches a worldwide recall.
Do you own a Beats Pill XL bluetooth speaker? Apple wants them back. Apparently, the Beats Pill XL is a fire safety risk. Apple launched a worldwide recall program on Wednesday because the speakers have been known for overheating, leading to reports of burned fingers and damaged desks.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission registered a total of eight complaints about overheating Beats Pill XL speakers. Apple is reacting to these complaints with a recall of around 233,000 speakers, and offering consumers an Apple store credit of $325.
The Beats Pill XL was inherited by Apple when Apple purchased the Beats Electronics company last year, and has since been selling the products in its stores as well as through its website.
