All You Need to Know about the Upcoming Alien TV Series!

Date:

Key Takeaways:

– Fargo’s Noah Hawley is creating a new TV series based on the Alien franchise for FX on Hulu.
– The series will be set on Earth, a few decades before the original Alien movie.
– Fan-favourite character Ellen Ripley will not be part of the show.
– Industry rumour suggests a second Alien show might also be in development with Ridley Scott’s direct involvement.

Hello! We’ve got some exciting news today. Remember how we were thrilled about Director Fede Alvarez’s new Alien: Romulus movie? Well, looks like our Alien saga enjoyment spree isn’t ending anytime soon! Fargo TV series creator Noah Hawley has been creating an Alien TV series—sure, we all knew about that. But there’s more to the story, and we promise you’re going to love it!

A New Setting for Alien: Earth

The first intriguing detail about this upcoming series? It’s going to be set on Earth! Now, that’s a change of scenery. Taking place right near the end of our century, say around the 2090s, the show straddles between the prequel films Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. In the words of FX chairman John Landgraf, the decision to set it on Earth was to make the stakes of ‘What happens if you can’t contain it?’ more immediate. However, don’t expect to see any ties to the prequel films in this series, as Hawley prefers to stick to the retro-futurism of the original films.

No Ellen Ripley

One of the greatest characters in cinema history, Ellen Ripley, won’t be found in this new series. Hawley decided against incorporating her character even as a young child, believing her story was perfectly told and best left untouched.

Enter Weyland-Yutani

Our favourite villainous Weyland-Yutani corporation is set to make an appearance in this series, along with a new corporation envisioned by Hawley. It seems we’re going to witness some corporate competition in this Alien universe!

Drafted and Ready

So how far along is this project? The good news is the scripts for the first season, whose episode count is yet undisclosed, have all been handed in. The production was initially hampered by an actors’ strike but filming resumed and the series aims for a 2025 premiere.

Meet the Cast

Get ready for the talented Sydney Chandler of ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ fame, who will play the lead role of Wendy! Joined by the likes of Essie Davis, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, and more, this is a cast that promises to deliver.

A Glimpse into What’s to Come

The series aims to deliver quality horror and non-stop action akin to the original Alien and its sequel, Aliens. Interestingly, Hawley has hinted at playing with the xenomorph life cycle, suggesting we may be in for some unexpected narrative spins!

Possible Multiple Seasons

The series is planned as a recurring series and not a limited one. This could mean multiple seasons are on their cards. Keep your fingers crossed, Alien fans!

To top it all off, industry insider Daniel Richtman has spilled that a second Alien series might be in development with Ridley Scott more directly involved. As for Ridley Scott serving as an executive producer? He’s sure no TV series could beat his original film!

So, that’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Alien TV series. Are you excited? Share with us in the comments below!
