ABC’s The Muppets ratings plummet.
Rebooting The Muppets may end up being a bad idea. The ABC show returned after a lengthy hiatus on Tuesday night, and many people decided to watch something else.
The half-hour comedy earned just a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers.
In the key demographic, that’s a 25% drop in ratings from the show’s last episode.
This news comes as ABC called The Muppets a major disappointment a few weeks ago. In fact, series co-creator Bob Kushell is no longer working on the show and now Galavant producer Kristin Newman is in charge to help save the show.
ABC explained that they were planning on changing the format of the show to attract a larger audience. “We have very high hopes for them and hope [the episodes are] going to be as good as the scripts were,” ABC reps said in a TCA press conference.
But, The Muppets are not alone. Fox’s The Grinder is now the lowest-rated TV show on the Big Four.
