ABC is going to reboot ‘Fantasy Island’ again!
ABC has given the go-ahead for a second reboot of the 1970s series Fantasy Island, this time with a woman replacing Ricardo Montalban’s legendary role.
The new version of Fantasy Island is expected to follow “a brilliant, dynamic and sexy woman who runs a San Francisco-based company that provides clients with his/her most intimate, dark or outlandish fantasy,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The original series starred Montalban as the mysterious Mr. Roarke, who always wore a white suit, and Herve Villechaize as Tattoo, his pint-size sidekick.
They ran an island in the Pacific where people paid millions to live out their fantasies.
The show, produced by Aaron Spelling, ran for six years and was part of the major Aaron Spelling TV empire which included Love Boat and Charlie’s Angels. All three shows aired back to back just like Shonda Rhimes’ hit TGIT series.
ABC revived, Fantasy Island in 1988 with dismal results eventually canceling the series after only a few episodes.
