Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Darren Aronofsky, Joe Weisberg, and Joel Fields’s “The Americans” creators have announced that FX has ordered to series its TV adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s novel “Kindred.”

The eight-episode sci-fi series starts with Dana (actress Mallori Johnson), a young Black woman who is an aspiring writer who has uprooted her life to pursue a career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles.
She is violently pulled back and forth through time to a nineteenth-century plantation with which she and her family are strangely linked before she can settle in. In this genre-breaking study of the ties that bind, an interracial romance runs through her past and present. The clock is ticking as she attempts to confront the secrets she never knew that ran through her blood.
