Commercial Audition Tips
Commercial auditions can be nerve-wracking. You’re in a room full of people competing for the same role, and you only have a few minutes to make an impression. But don’t worry – we’ve covered you with our top tips for nailing your commercial audition.
- Do your research
Before you even step into the audition room, it’s essential to research the company or brand you’re auditioning for. What are their values? What is their target audience? What kind of tone are they going for? The more you know about the company, the better equipped you’ll be to give them what they’re looking for.
- Be prepared
It may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s essential to show up to your audition prepared. Make sure you have all the necessary materials – headshot, resume, etc. – and know your lines inside and out. The last thing you want is to be fumbling around for your script when it’s your turn to audition.
- Dress the part
First impressions are everything, so take the time to dress for success. When in doubt, always err on being too dressed up rather than too casual. You want to look like you’re taking the audition seriously and that you would be a good fit for the role.
- Bring energy
Commercials are all about energy and enthusiasm, so ensure you bring plenty of both to your audition. Even if you’re feeling nervous, don’t let it show. Smile, make eye contact, and project your voice – you want the casting directors to see that you’re confident and excited about the opportunity.
- Be yourself
The best thing you can do is be yourself. Casting directors are looking for someone genuine and relatable, so don’t try to be someone you’re not. If you can be authentic and show them who you are, you’re more likely to book the gig.
