Suits: LA Scores Official Series Spot on NBC

Date:

Key Takeaways:

* NBC gives a series nod to Suits: LA, a spin-off from hit TV series Suits.
* Aaron Korsh, the original creator, is behind Suits: LA, featuring Stephen Amell as Ted Black.
* The series hasn’t been assigned a release date yet, though it’s slated to premier in the latter half of the 2024-25 television season.
* While the Suits: LA pilot isn’t expected to feature any old cast members, they may make appearances in the future.

As a fan of the summer’s hit show, ‘Suits,’ you might have been in the dumps because the series ended four years ago. Well, it’s time to be thrilled! NBC has stepped in with a dash of sunshine by officially ordering a new series, Suits: LA, a spinoff of the spectacularly popular, Suits.

We owe Suits: LA to the genius behind the original Suits—Aaron Korsh. The superhero from Arrow, Stephen Amell, stars as Ted Black in this sizzling new series. Ted is a former federal prosecutor from New York who shifts gears, representing LA’s most influential clients while undergoing a personal crisis. Hard not to feel a twinge of excitement about that, isn’t it?

Ted, as we know him, has never been a fan of his new role. But in this experience, he’s flanked by an exciting group of characters who test their loyalties to him, to themselves, and to their blurred work-life boundaries.

Joining Amell in the cast are Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg. A round of applause for Victoria Mahoney, who directed the pilot and will be executive producing the series alongside Aaron Korsh, David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein. You won’t find a release date for Suits: LA just yet, but we expect it to air later in the 2024-25 TV season.

A little trip down memory lane, why not? The original Suits takes us to a fictional NYC corporate law firm following Mike, a college dropout gifted with an extraordinary photographic memory. Patrick J. Adams, who played Mike, managed to snag himself a job at attorney Harvey Specter’s law firm. That’s where the drama, the thrill, the suspense all began.

The impact of Suits was so significant that Suits: LA is actually the second spin-off. The first was Pearson, following Gina Torres’ character into the murky world of Chicago politics. Sadly, Pearson didn’t last beyond its first season. As for Suits: LA, though the pilot episode doesn’t include any Suits’ original cast, the possibility of their return isn’t ruled out. Even Adams, previously Mike, revealed, “If I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again.”

With anticipation building up for Suits: LA, keep your eyes out for more updates, and remember—every cloud has a silver lining. Suits’ ending gave us this exciting new spin-off, so stay tuned to watch what unfolds in sunny LA’s power-packed legal drama!
