Denzel Washington‘s new Netflix movie “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” is now casting new talent in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming on July 9th through the 11th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Producers are seeking the following types:
- Looking for Women ages 18+ who are dress sizes 0-6 and Men ages 18+ who are Suit sizes 38-44. (Hair must be natural colors, no dyed blondes or highlights). Men must be willing to shave to fit the time period.

About ‘MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM’:
Denzel Washington revealed nearly a half-decade ago, his plans to produce 10 of August Wilson’s plays, which consists of 10 plays portraying the 20th century African American experience, from the early 1900s, just after slavery and the Civil War, to the 1990s, into feature films. He first started with the film adaptation of Wilson’s “Fences”.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is a 1982 play – one of the ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle by August Wilson – that chronicles the twentieth century African American experience. The play is set in Chicago in the 1920s, and centers around issues of race, religion and the historic exploitation of black recording artists by white producers.

Hello folks!
We are looking for people with great availability between July 9-11 to work up to 3 days on “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” starring Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Oscar winner, Viola Davis (The Help). Filming in near the central Pittsburgh area.
Currently we are looking for Caucasian Women ages 18+ who are dress sizes 0-6 and Caucasian Men ages 18+ who are Suit sizes 38-44. (Hair must be natural colors, no dyed blondes or highlights). Men must be willing to shave to fit the time period.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Ma Rainey is set in 1927, so we’re looking for a classic, natural look:
-Natural hair (no extensions, weaves, braids, or dyed hair)
-Natural lashes and brows (No lash extensions)
-No acrylic or painted nails.
-No ear gauges or facial piercings.
-No facial/neck tattoos.
THE DETAILS
Pay is $80 for the first eight hours, then time-and-a-half afterward (plus $20 for a wardrobe fitting).
*WARDROBE FITTING WILL BE REQUIRED THIS WEEK OR EARLY NEXT WEEK.
