Netflix’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Lead Roles Open Casting Call

Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events the TV series is now casting lead roles.

Update: A Series of Unfortunate Events The production has just extended their submission deadline. The new deadline to audition for Netflix is by is the 28th of January, so interested actors now have another week to get those video auditions in.

Netflix’s book to TV version of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is holding a nationwide open casting call for the role of Violet and Klaus.

Netflix announced yesterday that auditions for the two lead roles are now underway and anyone who meets the following casting descriptions, knows how to act, and is interested in joining the cast is encouraged to apply.

Violet is described as “a young, not-too-mature 14-year-old. She is self-confident, capable and smart beyond her years. She helps her brother and sister solve problems with her skills as an inventor. She is the eldest and a natural leader of the group.” The casting agency is looking for someone between the ages of 11 and 14.

Meanwhile, Netflix is seeking a 10-13-year-old for the role of Klaus: “He is the middle child in the family. He’s very smart and is a voracious reader. He loves books. He is charming.”

The casting call reveals that filming for A Series of Unfortunate Events will begin filming in March 2016 in Vancouver, Canada. Auditions must be sent in January 15th.

Work on the adaptation is great news and shows that production is moving quickly. It’s possible the show could premiere by early 2017.

Violet and Klaus were played by Emily Browning and Liam Aiken in the 2004 movie adaptation. Jim Carrey played Count Olaf.
