Matthew McConaughey film “Sea of Trees” casting call in Boston, Massachusetts
According to Variety, Matthew McConaughey said he was drawn to the poetic nature of the screenplay by Chris Sparling (“Buried”). “It was the best script I remember reading in the last five years,” said the actor who recently won the Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club,” noting that it “felt like a bunch of beautiful haikus, back to back. It was incredibly surprising. I got chills a few times just in the read of it.”
“Sea of Trees” follows a suicidal American (Matthew McConaughey) who befriends a man (Ken Watanabe) lost in Japan’s Aokigahara forest. Negotiations are underway with Naomi Watts to play the female lead–the character of McConaughey’s wife.
Casting directors are looking for SAG-AFTRA members who are interested in working in the new Matthew McConaughey film “Sea of Trees“.
According to the casting call notice, filming will take place mostly in Worcester starting Late August and early September.

We are currently looking for submissions from SAG-AFTRA members who are interested in working the new Matthew McConaughey film “Sea of Trees” It is filming mostly in Worcester, late August, early September.
If you are interested, please send us your name,height, weight,contact details and a recent photo of yourself. Please know that these photos will be shown to the director for him to choose from.
We do not want headshots but a decent picture of yourself is extremely important in order for the director to make his choices so please follow these picture guidelines:
- No sunglasses or hats
- Picture should be clear and front facing
- Picture should be of you alone
- Picture should have a plain background
- Picture should be from the waist up or shoulders up
- Please have someone photograph you, selfies are not usually flattering, especially when taken in the bathroom!
If you are able to portray 18-29, subject line should read LEMON, 30-39 Orange, 40-49 PLUM, 50-59 PEACH and over 60 LIME.

Because part of the movie is supposed to be in Japan, we are currently looking for submissions from union or non union Japanese people who are interested in working the new Matthew McConaughey film “Sea of Trees” It is filming mostly in Worcester, late August, early September.
