Denzel Washington‘s new Netflix movie “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” is now casting female stand-ins in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming between July 8th through August 16th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Producers are seeking the following types:
- (1) – African American female – Ages 30-58. Dark complexion. Height 5’6-5’7.5. Ideally a size 6-8.
About ‘MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM’:
Denzel Washington revealed nearly a half-decade ago, his plans to produce 10 of August Wilson’s plays, which consists of 10 plays portraying the 20th century African American experience, from the early 1900s, just after slavery and the Civil War, to the 1990s, into feature films. He first started with the film adaptation of Wilson’s “Fences”.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is a 1982 play – one of the ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle by August Wilson – that chronicles the twentieth century African American experience. The play is set in Chicago in the 1920s, and centers around issues of race, religion and the historic exploitation of black recording artists by white producers.

Standins are UBER important. They must be reliable, punctual, smart and able to take direction well. All of the camera and lighting tests are done on the Standins so if they aren’t there, the day can’t begin.
