Despite a brief halt in production, AMC was able to strike “significant agreements” with the SAG-AFTRA actors union. As a result, filming for Interview with the Vampire Season 2 persevered through the SAG strike last year, ensuring it stayed on track for its 2024 debut. With the Sunday, May 12th date rapidly approaching, a trailer providing a sneak peek into the new season is available.

Journey Through the Vampire Chronicles

The television series, derived from Anne Rice’s best-selling novel, delves into the complex account of the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac. The narrative takes a unique turn as he narrates the story of his existence and transformation into a vampire to reporter Daniel Molloy. Prized details involving his intensive mentoring by Lestat de Lioncourt beam through the narration in each episode.

The upcoming season starts off in the year 2022, with Louis recounting the macabre events that transpired in New Orleans in the 1940s. This historic timeline had Louis and teen vampire Claudia’s failed attempt to kill Lestat de Lioncourt, resulting in a high-stakes scramble to Europe. Their search for Old World Vampires and the fabled Theatre Des Vampires in Paris ensues; it is during this journey that Louis meets the vampire Armand. This inexplicable love affair between Louis and Armand result in devastating repercussions in both past and future timelines.

Breaking New Ground with an All-Star Cast

Mark Johnson, the executive producer of the series, teases that the second season traverses through different periods – the 1790s, 1940s, 1970s, and 2023. New stars are set to join the seasoned cast this season. Sam Reid takes on the role of the vampire Lestat; Jacob Anderson portrays Lestat’s companion Louis de Pointe du Lac; Assad Zaman enacts Rashid, Louis’ associate in present day; Kalyne Coleman embodies Louis’ sister Grace; Christian Robinson plays Levi, the Baptist who captures Grace’s heart; and Eric Bogosian acts as Daniel Molloy, a journalist on the cusp of retirement who’s been offered the interview of a lifetime.

For the new season, Ben Daniels steps in as the vampire Santiago. Delainey Hayles has inherited Bailey Bass’s role of the vampire Claudia from the first season. The ensemble also includes guest performances from David Costabile, Roxane Duran, and Bally Gill.

Production Powerhouses Behind the Vampire Chronicles

Alan Taylor, notable for directing the Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, adds an executive production credit to his résumé with this series and even directed the first two episodes. Mark Johnson, the producer of acclaimed series such as Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is in charge of AMC’s Vampire Chronicles franchise. Additionally, Rolin Jones, Anne Rice’s son Christopher Rice, and Anne Rice herself hold executive producer credits on the project.
