‘Ghetto Cowboy‘ starring Idris Elba casting call for speaking roles in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming in Philadelphia starting August 2019.
Producers are seeking the following types:
- Young African American Woman, age 15 to 18, for a speaking role. Must be able to ride a horse well.
About ‘Ghetto Cowboy’:
The upcoming movie is based on the award-winning novel by Greg Neri. The screenplay was written by Ricky Staub and Dan Walser. Elba will produce ‘Ghetto Cowboy’ with his Green Door Pictures production company.
“This story was built out of a deep friendship and collaboration with the riders of North Philly, and I couldn’t be more excited to honor their legacy with this film,” Staub said told Variety.
The movie centers around 15-year-old Cole, who is forced to live with his estranged father Harp (Idris Elba) in North Philadelphia, where, despite the surrounding poverty and violence, he discovers the redemptive world of urban horseback riding.
“Ricky and Dan’s brilliant script combines the energy and grit of an urban movie with the poetry and romance of the urban cowboy way of life,” Elba told Variety.
