Bolden! starring Jackie Earle Haley, Omari Hardwick, and Michael Rooker feature film casting call for a principal role in Atlanta, Georgia.
Recounting the jazzy life story of legendary cornet player Buddy Bolden, the film began its initial production in early 2007. It is the passion project of Hyatt Hotels heir and writer/director Dan Pritzker, who has reportedly funneled millions into the film.
Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker”) originally was featured in the title role but will be recast before filming restarts, according to Star News Online.Pritzker will reshoot all the scenes with the main character now played by a new actor. Mackie bowed out of doing the performance again. He has been replaced by Downton Abbey’s Gary Carr.
According to IMDB, Bolden! features Jackie Earle Haley, Omari Hardwick, and Michael Rooker.
Casting directors are now casting a principal role in the upcoming movie. Producers are looking for multi-ethnic males of Creole descent (African American & French, African-American & Spanish) who are musicians/actors who play the following instruments at a high level, preferably local to Atlanta.

At the beginning of the 20th century, BUDDY BOLDEN was the hottest, most innovative&popular musician in New Orleans. By age 25 he was the dynamic, sexy, charismatic “First cornet king of New Orleans” By the time he was 30 he had lost his mind to schizophrenia and was committed to an asylum. Tonight, 24 years later, a nurse has turned on the radio in the asylum and Bolden hears a live broadcast of Louis Armstrong and his orchestra…*
The film will begin production in the southeast in September – December with rehearsals starting as early as the end of July.
