Forrest Gump reunites to bring us ‘Here’
The team behind ‘Forrest Gump’ is reuniting for another adventure.
This time around, they’re working on an adaptation of Richard McGuire’s graphic novel that will be released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment – US rights have already been preemptively acquired before it debuts at Cannes Market next week.
‘Here’ stars Tom Hanks (Best Director/Actor from the Academy Awards) alongside Robin Wright who plays his love interest in both films; fans can also expect award-winning writer Eric Roth aboard alongside them both again after their success in ‘Forrest Gump.’
This new adaptation will focus on the love story between Gump and Wright’s character Jenny. The original graphic novel is set across different periods and tells the story of their relationship from Jenny’s perspective. It’s a heartwarming tale that is sure to capture the hearts of audiences everywhere, just like the first film did.
We can’t wait to see this new adaptation of ‘Forrest Gump.’
Tom Hanks is an American actor and filmmaker. He is known for his comedic and dramatic roles in such films as ‘Splash’ (1984), ‘Big’ (1988), ‘Turner & Hooch’ (1989), ‘A League of Their Own’ (1992), ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ (1993), ‘Apollo 13’ (1995), ‘You’ve Got Mail’ (1998), ‘The Green Mile’ (1999), ‘Cast Away’ (2000), ‘Cloud Atlas’ (2012), Captain Phillips (2013), ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ (2013), and ‘Sully’ (2016). Hanks has also played the leading roles in the Robert Zemeckis-directed films ‘Forrest Gump’ (1994) and ‘Cast Away’ (2000), as well as ‘In the Line of Fire’ (1993), ‘Philadelphia’ (1993), and ‘Bridge of Spies’ (2015).
Hanks has been married to actress Rita Wilson since 1988. The couple has two sons, Chet and Truman. Hanks has also been involved in numerous humanitarian activities throughout his career. He is one of the co-founders of Playtone, a film and television production company and record label that was named after the fictional record company in the movie That Thing You Do!’ (1996). The company had numerous projects for HBO that have received Emmy nominations and awards. He is also a supporter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Robin Gayle Wright is the recipient of a Golden Globe Award and has received 11 Emmy Award nominations for her work in television.
Wright first gained attention for her work in the NBC Daytime soap opera Santa Barbara, where she played the lead role of Kelly Capwell from 1984 to 1988. She then made the transition to film, starring in the romantic comedy fantasy adventure film “The Princess Bride”. Wright received critical acclaim and a Golden Globe Award for her role as Jenny Curran in ‘Forrest Gump’ (1994). She has since starred in several films, including ‘Message in a Bottle’ (1999), ‘Unbreakable’ (2000), ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011), and ‘Wonder Woman’ (2017).
Wright has been married to actor Sean Penn since 1996. They have two children, Dylan and Hopper. She was previously married to Dane Witherspoon from 1986 to 1988 and Wright has also been romantically linked to Ben Foster and Jesse Williams.
