HULU’s ‘Up Here’ cast, casting calls, auditions, and news.
Mae Whitman leads Hulu’s ‘Up Here.’
Mae Whitman is getting another chance to flex her singing prowess as the lead star in Hulu’s musical comedy ‘Up Here.’Â
The musical was written by Steven Levenson, the same genius behind Tick, Tick…Boom and other bigwigs like Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (The Carmichael Show), Director Thomas Kail (Hamilton), and the songwriting duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Frozen and WandaVision).
‘Up here’ focuses on life in New York City in 1999. The story follows Lindsay and Miguel, who fall in love. It follows them as they discover that the single greatest obstacle to finding happiness together might be themselves-and all those treacherous memories inside our heads.
Whitman stars as the title character, a small-town Vermont girl who has spent her life trying to be good enough for everyone around her. But one day, she leaves everything behind and moves into New York City, where hopefully, this will allow her some freedom from societal expectations so that we can find out what makes our “Lindsay” unique!
With a resume that includes leading roles on TV’s Parenthood and Netflix’s Arrested Development, Whitman is a well-established character actress in Hollywood. Her voice has been heard as Tinker Bell in the Disney Fairies franchise, April O’ Neil from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Amity Shalesterfield within The Owl House. Recently signing with Gersh Entertainment Group after being auditioned by them for their new show Good Girls, this powerhouse will make you laugh out loud while keeping your attention drawn to every word she speaks!
