Produced by Lionsgate TV, the show’s first two seasons were released on YouTube and then revived in 2020 when Starz stepped in to pick up where YouTube had left off. It was a logical move at the time, given that Lionsgate is Starz’s parent company.
The musical drama High Water follows the lives of passionate students and dedicated faculty, according to its series description. “an incubator for new artistic talent where founder Sage Odom (Ne-Yo) and his partner Collette Jones (Christina Milian) struggle to maintain their empire.”
Season 3 of ‘High Water’ was turbulent for Sage and Colette as they faced criminal charges, financial destruction, and powerful foes who wanted to eradicate them—paving the way for an exciting conclusion in the series finale expected to air next week!
The illustrious cast of Season 3 included: Terrence Green, Faizon Love, Lauryn McClain, Petrice Jones, Eric Graise, Terayle Hill, Enrique Murciano, and Tricia Helfer from the original season. Additionally, this year we saw Carlito Olivero and Jade Chynoweth join for the first time in 2021 – with Christina Milian replacing Naya Rivera’s role as Collette Jones.
The ‘Step Up’ series was masterfully crafted by Sorensen, Adam Shankman, and Jennifer Gibgot through their Offspring Entertainment. Equally pivotal in the original Step Up movie production, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan acted as executive producers under Free Association’s banner. Erik Feig of Picturestart, who produced all the “Step Up” films and supervised them as an executive at Lionsgate, was credited with this production. Bill Brown also served as an executive producer for the franchise.
Deadline was the first to break the news of the cancellation.
