Jamie Foxx Issues Apology for Controversial Instagram Post Deemed Antisemitic

Date:

Jamie Foxx has expressed remorse for a now-deleted Instagram post that sparked accusations of being antisemitic.

In a post that has since been removed, Foxx wrote, “They killed this dude named Jesus… What do you think they’ll do to you???! #fakefriends #fakelove.”

Foxx later posted a new message on Instagram to address the situation: “I want to extend my sincerest apologies to the Jewish community and anyone offended by my previous post. I now recognize that my choice of words inadvertently caused offense, and I am genuinely sorry. I must clarify that my reference to ‘they’ was directed at a deceitful acquaintance who betrayed me and did not intend to generalize. My heart is filled with love for all, including the Jewish community. I deeply regret any hurt I’ve caused. With love, Jamie Foxx.”

Heart emojis, a praying hands emoji, and a fox emoji accompanied the statement.

The controversy surrounding Foxx’s initial post also had implications for Jennifer Aniston.

A screenshot shared by A Wider Frame, a newsletter covering events in the Jewish community, showed that Aniston had liked Foxx’s original post.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Aniston addressed the issue alongside the Wider Frame screenshot. She stated, “I find this deeply unsettling. I did not ‘like’ this post intentionally or accidentally. Moreover, I wish to make it unequivocally clear to my friends and anyone distressed by this appearing on their feeds – I do not endorse any form of antisemitism. Hatred in any form is unacceptable. Full stop.”

Foxx’s post faced criticism for seemingly perpetuating the antisemitic notion that Jewish people were responsible for Jesus Christ’s death.

These events unfolded as Foxx continued to recuperate from a “medical complication” that arose during the filming of the Netflix production, Back in Action.

In a recent Instagram video, Foxx opened up about his recovery process, although he refrained from providing extensive details about the incident. He remarked, “I faced an ordeal I never imagined going through.”

He refuted speculations that he was “blind” or “paralyzed.”

He affirmed, “As you can see, my vision and eyes function well. I am not paralyzed. However, my journey to recovery had its challenges. Despite that, I am making strides and can resume work.”

Foxx also acknowledged the absence of updates from himself and his team during his healing process.

“I understand that many were eager for updates, but honestly, I wanted you to see me in a better light,” he added. “I wished you to witness me laughing, enjoying life, cracking jokes, working on movies and TV shows. I didn’t want you to see me connected to tubes, grappling with uncertainty about my survival.”

Aniston and Foxx have collaborated previously on the Horrible Bosses film series.
