The Ford Modeling Agency, or as it is known today Ford Models, is a modeling agency in New York City. It was established in 1946 by Eileen and the late Gerard W. Ford.
Ford Models was originally started in 1946 by both Eileen and Gerard W. “Jerry” Ford. Back then, Ford was the very first company to really advance their models money owed by jobs that had been completed but not yet paid. Did you know that, the Ford family had the tradition of allowing teenage models who originate far from New York City to stay in their home.
The agency has represented a diverse list of models and celebrities. In 1980, the company established the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest that attracts more than 60,000 hopefuls annually from around the world.
In recent years the company has diversified into other professions related to the fashion industry through Ford Artists. They represent hair stylists, makeup artists, manicurists, stylists, set designers, prop stylists, art directors, and photographers.
In addition to the New York City headquarters, Ford Artists has offices in, Miami, Chicago, Phoenix, and Toronto.
V Magazine was launched in September 1999 as the younger sibling publication to the limited-edition quarterly Visionaire. If Visionaire is a couture book, V is ready-to-wear.
V is large-format and visually-driven, international in scope and collaborative in spirit. V is a magazine about fashion with a capital F and all the things that go with it: art, music, film, architecture…you name it.
Before V was put into print, we thought of it this way: Imagine a wall of forty-four televisions, each tuned to a different station. Today you would need a wall of 250 televisions, but it’s still a good way to think of the insane and unpredictable mix of people, places, and things that V celebrates in its pages.
V is a place where uptown meets downtown, celebrities mingle with total unknowns, high art converses with underground culture. Chic, wacky, fun, fabulous…in a letter: V.
