HBO ‘Ballers’ Starring Dwayne Johnson Gets Picked Up

The Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson project is moving forward!

Mark Wahlberg has produced Entourage and the critically acclaimed television series ‘Boardwalk Empire’ for HBO. HBO has recently given the go ahead for Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson’s show Ballers to be turned into a television series.

A casting call was posted for the TV pilot of the new HBO series in Miami looking for extras to work on various club and sports scenes. Now, according to Variety the new series “centers on a group of former and current football players and will star Johnson, marking his first major foray into TV series acting. Johnson will play a retired athlete, while other characters in “Ballers” include a highly spiritual pro athlete, financial adviser, sports agent, ESPN sideline reporter and ex-wife of a pro football player.”
