Warner Bros. Television and the Vampire Diaries Start Sarah Jones Memorial Internship for Aspiring Georgia Filmmakers
Warner Bros. Television and the production team behind ‘The Vampire Diaries’ have teamed together with the International Cinematographers Guild, Local 479 and SIM Digital to create The Sarah Jones Opportunity, an annual internship and job training program dedicated to the memory of the camera assistant Sarah Jones, according to reports.
Sarah Jones was the camera assistant that was killed by a train last year while shooting the Gregg Allman biopic ‘Midnight Rider’. The film’s director Randall Miller, his wife and the film’s producer Jody Savin and executive producer Jay Sedrish were each charged with criminal trespass and involuntary manslaughter following Jones’ death. Randall Miller would plead guilty. He also pointed out that he accepts all blame and that the incident was all of his fault.
The Sarah Jones Opportunity is targeted towards Georgia-based aspiring filmmakers. Recipients of the opportunity will received a paid internship in phase one, job training in phase two, work experience in phase three and membership in a camera guild if the program is completed.
