Carolina Panthers tackle Michael Oher says “The Blind Side” ruined his football career.
‘The Blind Side’ is the movie that restarted Sandra Bullock’s acting career, dominated the Academy Awards but, it also ruined someone’s life.
In a recent interview with Michael Oher with ESPN, the NFL player portrayed in the 2009 drama, told reporters that he feels the movie negatively impacted his football career by putting extra pressure on him.
“I’m not trying to prove anything,” Oher said. “People look at me, and they take things away from me because of a movie. They don’t really see the skills and the kind of player I am. That’s why I get downgraded so much, because of something off the field.”
“This stuff, calling me a bust, people saying if I can play or not … that has nothing to do with football,” continued Oher, who recently signed a two-year deal with the Panthers after he was released in the offseason by the Tennessee Titans. “It’s something else off the field. That’s why I don’t like that movie.”
He added that his association with ‘The Blind Side’ has “taken away from my football.”‘This is not the first time Oher called producers behind ‘The Blind Side’. At a media event before the 2012 Super Bowl, Oher told reporters he was “tired” of ‘The Blind Side.’
