‘In The Heart of the Sea’ Bombs in the Box Office

Date:

Chris Hemsworth’s In the Heart of the Sea is on track to bomb in the box office.

Chris Hemsworth pushed his body to the breaking point in order to get into shape for the movie In the Heart of the Sea. The actor revealed he would starve and eat only 500 calories a day to lose weight and look frail on camera. But, despite losing a ton of weight for the new movie In the Heart of the Sea, analysts predict that Hemsworth new movie is going to bomb in the Box Office.

According to VarietyIn the Heart of the Sea debuted last weekend earning only pennies from 38 different markets.

In the Heart of the sea is a movie about a whale ship that encounters a sperm whale, which later inspires Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. The movie is reported to bring in only $12 and $14 million on a budget of $100 million to produce.

This is just the latest movie flop for Warner Bros. studios. Recently, Jupiter Ascending and Pan both bombed in the box office.

But, Warner Bros. is not alone. Chris Hemsworth last movie, Blackhat, also did horribly in the box office proving that Hemsworth may not demand movie ticket sales outside of “Thor”.

But, this may also signal the end of Ron Howard. His last three movies have all lost money in the box office. Including Frost/Nixon, The Dilemma and Rush. However, his latest production, Inferno, which is based on the Dan Brown novel, may bring commercial success.

The only movie analysts predict to do well in the box office is the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens which debuts on December 18th and is expected to annihilate any other movie debuting during Christmas weekend.
