Sonder Cinema is now casting for a dramatic short film proof-of-concept project filming in rural Utah. The story follows a sheep rancher pushed to the edge as he fights to preserve his way of life while facing hardships threatening the future of sheep ranching in America.
The production is seeking actors for several lead and supporting roles, along with local rancher community members. This grounded drama explores resilience, family, and survival in the modern rural West.
Job Responsibilities
- Portray assigned characters in a dramatic proof-of-concept production
- Participate in filming on location at ranches and rural communities
- Follow creative direction from the production team
- Work collaboratively with cast and crew members
- Be comfortable filming in close proximity to livestock, including sheep, horses, and dogs
Requirements
Mr. Kemper
- Male actor
- 60s or older
- Portrays an elderly rancher who is mentally sharp and resilient despite physical frailty
The Vet
- Male or female actor
- 40s or older
- Portrays a rural professional overseeing a major agricultural crisis
Ada
- Female actor
- In her 20s
- Portrays Mr. Kemper’s granddaughter
Grayson
- Female actor
- Mid-20s
- Compassionate and emotionally grounded character
Ranchers
- Gender flexible
- Adult performers
- Local ranching community members preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Prior acting experience is welcome but not required
