Miami Film Festival is now hiring a Director of Miami Film Festival Events Programming in Miami, Florida.

According to the job notice, Miami Film Festival is looking for “Miami Film Festival Events Programming Director seeks to create a strong relationship between the local and International Film Industries in order to bring world culture to Miami’s community, while assessing audience development and addressing all Festival activation, technical and talent demands for the coming seasons”

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees event logistics, negotiates contracts, and acts as liaison among national and international organizations
  • Oversees theatrical technology and all festival activation daily activities
  • Maintains and strengthens external relationships with MIFF’s existing and potential  partnerships, vendors, sales agents or US distributors, international cultural agencies, and embassies
  • Oversees all issues pertaining to programming, submissions, and filmmaker hospitality
  • Oversees all Film Industry initiatives, including MIFF’s annual work-in-progress section Encuentros; development of a co-production forum; providing networking opportunities to emphasize the opportunities for Miami and Florida film community members to connect with international business colleagues
  • Develops, creates and finds content for the Festival
  • Researches new and upcoming films from around the world
  • Negotiates and Invites films to the Festival
  • Responsible for the overall scheduling of films to different theaters according to Festival constituency, with the goal of superior event quality and performance
  • Introduces films and conducts Q&A sessions with guests during the Festival
  • Manages twenty (20) or more vendors (contractors) during the Festival
  • Manages an assigned budget for film rights rentals and technical equipment rentals
  • Analyzes ticket revenues vs. venue costs with the goal of establishing positive cash returns for the College
  • Directly raises money via sponsors and foundations for MDC to provide cash achievement awards for awards given to international producers, in the interests of US citizens to bridge cultural understanding
  • Manages festival staff closely to assess and handle all possible problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned
