A model said she is receiving death threats after appearing in a new sneaker commercial all because she showed off her unshaven legs.
“My photo from the Adidas Originals superstar campaign got a lot of nasty comments last week,” Swedish model Arvida Byström wrote in an Instagram post about the ad showing her hairy legs. “Literally I’ve been getting rape threats in my DM inbox,” she said.
She didn’t explain the nature of the threats but explained how they made her feel.
“I do think it is a problem that men use sexually violent language when women doesn’t abide,” she wrote on Sunday. “But I don’t actually think these people are going to rape me.”
The model says she felt bad for women who had to be around those men who wrote to her.
“I mainly get concerned for the women that has to be around these men,” she wrote. “Because having that kind of abusive language coming from somebody that you know or are physically around is very painful and damaging.”
The original photo appeared on the Adidas Originals Instagram page and had comments such as “I’m attracted to girls not monkeys,” according to the NYPost.com
