Ratings for The Oscars Hit an All-Time Low

Ratings for the Oscars dropped by nearly 16 percent.

Jimmy Kimmel’s return as Oscars received an 18.9 rating in ‘s overnight numbers from 8-11 p.m. ET, down 15.6 percent from 2017.

Last year’s Oscars had a 22.4 rating in Nielsen’s overnight numbers, which was down 4.3% from 2016’s . Meanwhile, Rock’s turn had already dropped 8 percent from .

At three hours and 50 minutes, ‘s Oscars may have only passed year’s runtime by one minute, but it managed to become one of the longest telecasts in over a decade. Not since 2007 has an ceremony been that long. Ultimately, the 2018 Oscars ratings reached an all-time low.

It is important to note, all three major including the Golden Globe Awards, the Grammy’s and the all saw a major drop in viewership.
