‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 is Still Casting New Talent

Date:

Stranger Things casting directorCarmen Cuba, is reportedly struggling to find talent to appear in the new season of the series.

Cuba told The Hollywood Reporter at the 10th Annual Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship dinner last week the difficulties of finding talent to appear on Stranger Things. In fact, Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, are still searching for talent to work on Season 3. “There’s a certain storyline that’s challenging that we have to keep going back to the well for,” Cuba told The Hollywood Reporter.

Cuba said the popularity of the show has its advantages and disadvantages when it comes to finding the right actors for every role. “There’s a lot of secrecy, and we can’t say what parts we’re looking for, so it’s still a weird challenge,” Cuba said. “I know that if we said, ‘We’re looking for this and it’s for Stranger Things,’ we would have tons more options, but it’s still a lot of work.”

Filming for Stranger Things will start this April 23rd until the end of September in Atlanta, Georgia.

In a recent interview, Stranger Things casting director Carmen Cuba shared tips for aspiring actors. She says,  “I find that most kids actually have a singularity to them that isn’t actually represented in kid casting. I think that traditionally kids who look a particular way—cute’ and ‘all-American’ are typical words used to describe what I mean—are encouraged to pursue acting and modeling and it results in a somewhat homogeneous representation of what a kid looks like. We definitely did not want that. We all remembered our childhood selves and wanted to replicate the awkward transitional beauty we experienced.”

This thrilling Netflix original drama stars Golden Globe-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983, which is inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.

Netflix renewed the series for the second season of nine episodes, which was released on October 27, 2017. In December 2017, Netflix ordered a third season, which began production in April 2018 and will consist of eight episodes, and is expected to be released in mid-2019. The Duffer Brothers have said that Stranger Things is likely to end after its fourth or fifth season.
