[CHARLIE MCKENZIE]
Female. 23-25. She’s an unsuspecting, fish-out-of-water in our story. She decides not to return home to Canada for the New Year’s Eve celebrations to avoid her own inevitable family drama and instead gets tangled up in the Varhal’s family drama by pure accident chasing after the adventure of her current one-night stand. She can be shy when among strangers, but she is otherwise a perky, eloquent young woman. SUPPORTING

**Talent must be able to speak fluently in French and English, however, for the audition sides, the material will be in English**

Storyline: This poignant family drama unravels over New Year’s Eve 1992/93. Michal and Charlie (his Canadian girlfriend), arrive home to celebrate the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, only to find the family in chaos. Michal’s father has suffered a heart attack after damning evidence is revealed that he betrayed both country and family cooperating with the outgoing regime’s reviled secret police. While the father’s health is left to hospital staff, his place in the family hangs in the balance as the family turns on each other debating their own reactions, prior knowledge and whether they can forgive their patriarch’s shocking past.
