A dreamer, torn between his fantasies and the calculating logic his father tried to instill in him. He was sent away from his family in Kyiv, Ukraine to study in Canada but finds it hard to adapt to the reality of his life as a broke, lonely student in Toronto. Yet, he’s determined that no matter what, he’ll never go back. Because of his strict, orthodox upbringing, he struggles with his emerging feelings for his friend, Maksym. He finds himself torn between his desires, his conservative upbringing, and finding acceptance. All while trying to figure out a way to stay in Canada after his student visa expires. Thin and tall. Languages – Fluent Russian, English. $218/day. LEAD

A Russian student from St. Petersburg. He came to study in Canada as a way to escape from a claustrophobic, conservative, and controlling family back home. He is impulsive, rash, and confused. He reacts based on instinct and has never had the ability or chance to really self-reflect and find his own identity. He tries to keep his emotions buried and is ill-equipped to deal with his feelings and like Alexei, he feels alienated as an immigrant in Canada. He struggles with feelings of guilt about leaving his home and mother behind. So, he works part-time as a food courier to send money back home to support her. He becomes increasingly conflicted with his true feelings for his friend Alexei as they embark on a fake relationship together. Broad shouldered. Languages – Fluent Russian, English $218/day. LEAD

Job Description
A UBC film production is casting talent for an upcoming narrative project shooting on 16mm film. Production is seeking performers for three scripted roles in a surreal, character-driven story centered on a housewife’s transformation and the shifting dynamics within her home. Selected talent will be featured on camera.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform scripted scenes as directed, maintaining character consistency throughout the shoot.
  • Take direction on set and collaborate professionally with cast and crew.
  • Participate in wardrobe/hair/makeup as needed to support the role and story.
  • Be prepared for multiple takes and continuity requirements typical of film production.

  • Saul Green (Male, 40s–50s): Must be able to portray a working-class husband with grounded realism, quiet frustration, and emotional subtext beneath a stoic exterior.
  • Hilda (Female, 50s–70s): Must be able to portray a faith-driven woman with warmth, sincerity, and calm authority.
  • Comfortable working on camera in a film set environment.
  • Professional, punctual, and able to follow on-set direction.
