Successful candidates will participate in an exciting rendition of this modern classic, which celebrates the heart and soul of Latino culture in New York City.

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform complex dance routines as directed by the choreographer.
  • Participate in rehearsals and perform in all scheduled shows.
  • Collaborate with the director, choreographer, and other performers to ensure a cohesive and dynamic performance.
  • Maintain high levels of energy and enthusiasm during performances.
  • Assist with quick costume changes and backstage organization as necessary.

Requirements

  • Exceptional dance abilities in various styles including breakdancing, commercial-style hip hop, contemporary, and salsa on2.
  • Strong vocal abilities, particularly in pop music.
  • Open to Latine, Black, and AAPI singers and dancers of all ages and types.
  • Ability to follow complex choreography and work as part of a team.
  • Previous stage performance experience is a plus.
  • Must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates.

Compensation Details

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform scripted dialogue and follow directorial guidance to bring the character to life.

Casting Call: South Asian Actress for Student Film “To Me, To You”

Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated South Asian actress to play the role of Divyah, Dev’s mother, in the upcoming student film, “To Me, To You.” This narrative explores the complex dynamics of family, tradition, and love through the eyes of Dev, a young South Asian man torn between his cultural obligations and his desire for independence. The arrival of his long-distance girlfriend, Mai, brings these conflicts to a head, challenging the family’s traditional values and Dev’s personal aspirations.

Role: Divyah/Dev’s Mom

  • Age Range: 45-55 years old

  • Ethnicity: South Asian

  • Character Traits: Divyah is the embodiment of traditional values with a profound love for her family, particularly her son, Dev. She communicates her affection through unsolicited advice and guilt trips, driven by a constant worry for Dev’s well-being over his romantic endeavors. While she may appear emotionally distant, her intentions are deeply rooted in her desire for Dev’s happiness and success.

Responsibilities

  • Portray the character of Divyah with depth and authenticity, capturing her complexities and the nuances of her love and concerns for Dev.

  • Collaborate closely with the director and other actors to bring the story and characters to life.

  • Participate in rehearsals as scheduled to develop a strong understanding of the character and her relationships within the story.

  • Be available and punctual for all shooting days as scheduled.

Requirements

  • Must be a South Asian woman within the age range of 45-55 years old.

  • Fluent in Telugu, as the character requires the ability to speak the language convincingly.

  • Preferably fluent in spoken English to facilitate seamless communication on set and with the production team.

  • Previous acting experience is highly desirable, particularly in roles that have required emotional depth and complexity.

  • Ability to convey a wide range of emotions and character developments through facial expressions, body language, and voice.

  • Must be available for the entirety of the shooting schedule.

Compensation Details

  • The role of Divyah is a paid opportunity, with compensation set at $70 per day.

  • Shooting is expected to last for three days. Specific dates and locations will be confirmed with the selected actress.
