Savita is a strong and independent musician who faces profound challenges as she helps her daughter rediscover herself after a life-changing event.
This project is the recipient of the CAPE Julia S. Gouw & Janet Yang 2024 Grant.
Job Responsibilities:
- Portray Savita, a deeply loving yet vulnerable mother determined to support her daughter’s journey.
- Perform sitar and vocal pieces showcasing Indian musical traditions.
- Deliver emotionally compelling performances that convey Savita’s strength, determination, and tender vulnerability.
Requirements:
- Female, 40s, South Asian.
- Proficiency in sitar and singing.
- Fluency in Hindi or Gujarati.
- Strong ability to convey complex emotional depth.
- Open to both union and non-union talent.
- Must be able to work as a Los Angeles local. Talent outside of LA must arrange their own travel and accommodations if cast.

Job Responsibilities:
- Portray the character of Lakshmi, a sensitive yet emotionally mature girl navigating the challenges of losing her hearing.
- Perform piano pieces and sing both Indian raags and Western pop songs.
- Convey a range of emotions, from defeat and curiosity to resilience and self-discovery.
Requirements:
- Female, 9-14 years old, South Asian.
- Strong piano and singing skills (Indian raags and Western pop).
- Must demonstrate emotional depth and versatility in acting.
- Open to both union and non-union talent.
- Must be able to work as a Los Angeles local. Talent outside of LA must provide their own travel and accommodations if cast.
