Job Description

Casting Double is now seeking Latino actors for lead roles in the upcoming feature film Eat the Sun, a narrative drama set in the modern American Southwest. The film explores themes of family, identity, memory, grief, and emotional isolation through the story of two siblings returning home after their father’s death.

The production is being led by writer/director Nicole Otero and produced by Sophie Luo. Filming is scheduled for October through November 2026 in the Southwest United States under a SAG MLB contract.

Job Responsibilities

Selected actors will:

  • Portray emotionally layered lead characters in a dramatic feature film
  • Participate in rehearsals, filming, and promotional production activities
  • Collaborate closely with the director and creative team
  • Deliver grounded and naturalistic performances
  • Be available for filming during the scheduled production window

Requirements

Ida — Lead Role

  • Latina female
  • Ages 25–35
  • Fluent English with an American accent
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required

Character description:
Ida is a curious, impulsive younger sister and artist chasing a dream while struggling with grief, family connection, and the fear of losing home forever.

Manuel — Lead Role

  • Latino male
  • Ages 30–40
  • Fluent English with an American accent
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required

Character description:
Manuel is Ida’s older brother — pragmatic, emotionally guarded, and deeply conflicted by his family’s past and responsibilities.

  • Tara – Female, 25–35, Indian. Confident, intelligent, and emotionally layered with a sharp edge beneath a polished exterior. Supporting role requiring fluent Hindi and English.
  • Maya – Female, 35–40, White American. An open and successful gay artist with a composed but emotionally complex presence. Supporting role.
  • Jackson – Male, 20s–30s, Indian American. Fast-talking, ambitious, and charismatic with underlying emotional tension. Supporting role.
  • Golden – Woman or Non-Binary Person, 35–45, Indian. Warm, grounded, and quietly authoritative with a strong New York presence. Day player role.
