Yaz Kaskar
About:
Yaz Kaskar is an actor and writer/director based in Houston, TX with nearly 20 years of stage
and screen experience.
She grew up in the theatre but has since shifted to working in film. Her screen work started
with The Masked 4, which received recognition from Austin Indie Fest and the IndieFEST
Film Awards. Her most recent training was with Next Actor Studio, studying the Stanislavski
Method, and she has personally studied the work of various prolific acting coaches,
including Sanford Meisner, Uta Hagen, and Larry Moss.
An avid writer since childhood, she has delved into all forms of storytelling from
screenplays to Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. At the age of 17, she wrote and directed
her first stage play, Falling Hard. She has continued to study writing throughout her college
career, with works including the adapted play In the Pines, which went on to be performed
at Texas State University, and various short films produced throughout her tenure in
Houston City College’s film program.
Her interest and skills span both in front of and behind the camera, with each position
influencing the next. Her acting experience has added a layer of insight to her directing
abilities. Similarly, the deep understanding of character from her years of writing has
helped refine her acting. Regardless of her role, her work leads with awareness of the
profound impact a well-told story can have on an audience.
As a passionate learner and proud jack-of-all-trades, Yaz is always looking to expand her
knowledge and hone her skills.
