Teresa Cunningham

I am an emerging actor with a strong foundation in performance, currently building my screen experience and developing my voice within film and television. My work is rooted in a genuine curiosity about people—their contradictions, emotional complexities, and the subtle ways they communicate what they don’t say. I began my training in performance through dance, studying Ballet, Tap and Modern from a young age and completing graded examinations through the Royal Academy of Dance and the Associated Board of Dance. This early training gave me a deep understanding of physicality, discipline and non-verbal storytelling, which continues to inform how I approach character and presence on screen. Alongside this, I trained for two years at Bright Sparks Performing Arts Academy and spent five years performing in amateur dramatics, where I developed a strong appreciation for ensemble work and live performance. One of my most formative roles was playing Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, where I explored themes of grief, control and emotional restraint—elements I find myself continually drawn to in my work. Outside of acting, I have been horse riding since the age of six, which has given me a strong sense of physical confidence, focus and connection. It’s something that has grounded me from a young age and continues to influence my awareness of movement, control and presence. More recently, I have been focusing on transitioning into screen acting, taking a proactive approach to developing my craft. Using my background in photography, I have been creating my own self-tapes and monologue work, treating my home environment as a working set in order to refine my on-camera performance and better understand how subtlety translates to screen. This process has helped me develop a naturalistic style and a strong awareness of framing, stillness and presence. I am particularly interested in character-led, psychologically driven stories and am drawn to roles that explore power, vulnerability and the complexity of human relationships. I am fascinated by characters who reveal different layers depending on who they are with, and who hold meaning in stillness and subtext rather than overt expression. Alongside performance, I also have experience working in post-production, which has given me a broader understanding of the filmmaking process and a respect for the collaborative nature of the industry. As I continue to build my experience, I am focused on developing a body of work that is both versatile and grounded in truth. I am excited by projects that challenge perception, explore emotional depth, and allow space for nuanced, authentic storytelling.
