Suliya Gisele uses film as a means of telling stories about marginalized characters who challenge conventional roles and expectations. Before film, she worked in fashion as a model, writer, and retailer. In 2020, she completed her studies in film production at Brooklyn College and won best director at the Brooklyn College Film Festival and the Imagine This Women's Film Festival for her film Chrysanthemum.
