Sophia Materra

Sophia Materra is based in San Diego, California, and frequents Los Angeles, California. She brings a range of practical skills and experience to each project. She has experience with improvisation, the Meisner technique and Uta Hagen's acting exercises— of which are taught at the boutique acting studio she attends, Los Angeles Acting Studio in San Diego. With a focus on Feature Film, Short Film, Indie Film, & Improvisation, Sophia Materra has been involved in projects that align with these areas, gaining hands-on experience. This background supports a well-rounded approach to new challenges and tasks, making Sophia Materra adaptable across different project settings. She has a passion for acting as a whole, blossoming at a young age in local San Diego theater productions and then emerging more once she started her first job— in a local movie theater. From there, she got engaged with the local San Diego Film community, as well as the Los Angeles Film community, frequently traveling between the two in order to attend film events and support cinema as an art. Her passion for this art brought her back to her roots of acting, but this time in Film & Television, her true calling. To continue supporting film as an art form, she often finds small film projects and will donate to kickstart and launch projects made by students, indie filmmakers, or beginner filmmakers. She remains multifaceted and thus has other avenues in which she enjoys exploring as well, such as filmmaking and writing, activities she’s engaged in since her pre-teen years.
