Siphiwe Nkabinde

Siphiwe Sip Nkabinde is a Zulu traditional songwriter, vocalist, actor, voice artist, mentor, dancer, musician, and a businessman. He was born in Bergville (Emoyeni), KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa but grew up in Langkloof across uThukela River. Sip is an international creative artist whose talents continue to shine on bigger stages, on our local televisions. He is a founder of Amacusi Productions which produces and publishes music library for various content. He has worked with several great songwriters, musicians, vocalists, actors, theatre producers and businesspeople who has shaped his career. Sip’s music work has been featured and continue to be heard on our local TV and radio programs and international ones; a local movie called “Between friends”, an international music program called “The Sing-Off”, “Uzalo”, “The Queen”, Isibaya, Moja Love programs, eTV programs and other Mzansi Magic channels like “iHostela” and eTV uKhakhayi. In 2013, some of his music work through Slam production (Songs from KwaZulu - Sip featured as Nxele) which is one of his nicknames back home was released online. In 2020, Sip released his first Single call Leyongoma “That Song” then released “Isililo ngeSilo” dedicated to our late Zulu King. However, his career took off when he landed various roles in Umoja – “The Spirit of Togetherness” in 2001 which toured the world. In 2009 his skill was received by several theatre productions like Kwela Bafana, iLembe, Madiba African Opera, Exit Exist, Music in The Air, Amandla Cultural Ensemble, King Kong Musical, and children’s theatre productions; Library Lion and Mr Popper’s Penguins to name a few. Sip is currently with 2 beautiful productions of William Kentridge as a vocalist while working on his music projects and other NPO projects. Sip has also been featured on a local sitcom; Generations the legacy, Unmarried S2 Isibaya, Ashes to ashes and featured film “Ingane kababa”
