Shana Del Toro-McCann

A forty-something special education teacher, mother, and lifelong theatre and film aficionado, Shana is beginning to contemplate what might be next. At the ripe age of 22, she chased her Hollywood dreams, determined to become a famous actor. Alas, just a year later she was not the starlet she had envisioned, so she returned to her small hometown of Miami, Florida. Ironically, that’s where her acting career truly began-on the unexpected stage of an elementary school classroom. Every day since, Shana has performed for some of the most brutally honest audiences on earth: children. Her classrooms became her sets, her students her scene partners. Even middle schoolers (arguably the toughest crowd) found her entertaining. Still, while the dream of acting never fully left her, the realities of adulthood, a steady paycheck, and stability kept her rooted in education. But now, decades later, Shana has decided to give it one last hurrah. She’s ready to throw caution to the wind and try her hand at acting again. Maybe it will lead to nothing at all; she could very well end up in a local production of Cats, wearing too much eyeliner and a tail with questionable structural integrity. But… why not? Life is short, the stage lights are warm, and the curtain hasn’t fallen yet.
